Introduce the focus sound as a school

Sound Waves Literacy 1/1/19

“students-in-classroom“

Sound Waves Literacy has been carefully structured so that for any given week the focus sound is the same across Years 1 to 6. This consistency makes it easy to introduce the focus as a whole school.

Try these ideas at your school:

  • Announce the focus sound in your newsletter or on your Facebook page.
  • Have students perform the Chant and Action at assembly.
  • Set up a box in your library where students can drop newspaper clippings of unusual words that feature the focus sound. Why not make this into a competition where the most unusual entry receives a prize?
